EUNICEA Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice for Zilda Toot Brown Manuel, 89, a retired cafeteria worker for the St. Landry Parish School Board passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2008. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Cedric Sonnier Celebrant.

A loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Toot is survived by her three sons, Alvin Manuel and wife, Vickie, Gerald Manuel and wife, Cathy and Doug Manuel and wife, Audrey all of Eunice; three daughters, Elrena Bollich of Eunice, Deanna Hidalgo and husband, Harold of Opelousas, Cheryl Soronen and husband, Hugh of Eunice; a daughter-in-law, Etta Manuel of Eunice; twenty two grandchildren, thirty five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. All who knew and loved Toot will dearly miss her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Manuel, Sr; her son, D. J. Manuel; parents, Alee and Julia Blanchard Brown; three brothers, Eddie Brown, Sr, Isaac Brown and Ferdie Brown, Sr.

The family request that visiting hours be observed on Friday, September 12, 2008 from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Saturday, September 13, 2008 from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Friday evening.
