Willard J. Fontenot

BASILE-It is with heavy hearts that the family of Willard J. Fontenot announces his passing on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Southwind Nursing Home in Crowley at the age of 83. A Rosary and Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Basile. Burial will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating.

Willard J. Fontenot was born on November 20, 1941, to Wilson and Agnes Manuel Fontenot in the small town of Basile, Louisiana. He was an outdoorsman, often found hunting and fishing, which brought him great joy. He also enjoyed horses and watching NFL football, especially the Saints.

He will be missed and loved dearly by all who knew him, especially his sons, Tony Fontenot and wife, Pam of Youngsville, and Tommy Fontenot and wife, Jill of Carencro; the mother of his children, Mae Tietz and husband, Richard of Carencro; his four grandchildren, Lance Fontenot and wife, Dana, Blake Fontenot and wife, Deidre, Korri Andrew and husband, Joey, and Ian Fontenot and wife, Haley; his two great grandchildren, Logen Fontenot and David Andrew; as well as extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his son, Tim Fontenot; his parents; and siblings, Ernest Fontenot, Herman Fontenot, and Audrey Manuel.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Basile on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 9:00 am until time of services.
