"AS PER RAY'S WISHES HE WOULD LIKE YOU TO WEAR RED"
With heavy hearts, the family of Whitney “Ray” Ardoin announces his unexpected passing on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the Oak Lane Wellness and Rehabilitation Center. Ray was 75 years old and leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice, starting at 11:00 am. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, with Father Sam Fontana as Celebrant.
Born on January 11, 1949, Ray was a proud graduate of St. Edmund High School class of 1966. His passion for life was evident in everything he did. An ardent baseball fan, he enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and cheering for the St. Edmund Blue Jays, as well as following McNeese football. His love for nature was profound; he often found joy in deer hunting and fishing beneath the towering pine trees of Oberlin, West Bay and west Texas. Ray was a steadfast supporter of the Farming Industry, but above all, he treasured the moments he spent traveling with his family.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, especially his beloved daughter, Whitney Rose Ardoin of Lafayette, and his former wife, Lisa Fontenot Ardoin of Eunice. He is also survived by his sister, Darilyn Ardoin Bouquet and husband, Eugene of Iowa, LA; his sister and Godchild, Brenda Ardoin of Eunice; niece, Myra Renee Broussard and husband, Tim of Shreveport; great-nieces, Felicity and Celeste Broussard; along with extended family and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Ray joins his parents, Whitney Raymond, Sr. and Luna Rose Lejeune Ardoin, and his sister, Myra Rose Ardoin, in eternal peace. He is also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, DeRozia and Joseph Ostay Lejeune of Oberlin and his paternal grandparents, Olivier and Agna Guillory Ardoin of Chataignier.
In accordance with the family's wishes, a visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Sunday, August 25th from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm, and again on Monday, August 26th from 8:00 am until the time of services. Father Sam Fontana will lead a Rosary at 6:30 pm on Sunday.
