EUNICE-A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday, February 14, 2009 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice for Verdie Y. Schambaugh, 80, who passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2009. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Father Cedric Sonnier officiating.

Verdie will be remembered as one who enjoyed being with her family and friends most of all and she gave generously of her time and resources to them. She is survived by her loving husband, Lawrence Schambaugh of Eunice; a son, Michael Schambaugh and his wife, Becky of Eunice; two daughters, Linda S. Grouvillia and her husband, Allen and Donna S. Ward and her husband, Randall, all of Eunice; one brother, James Young of San Diego, CA; three sisters, Verby Schambaugh of Kingwood, TX, Dorothy Y. Johnson of Hammond, and Bertha Krueger of Hestand, KY; her seven grandchildren, Michael Grouvillia, Jillian S. Jones, Jeremy Schambaugh, Jared Ward, Adam Grouvillia, Corey Ward, and Matthew Ward; four great grandchildren, Laken Grouvillia, Seth Jones, Kole Grouvillia, and Alex Jones.Verdie was a person who loved her family, and will be dearly missed and loved by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ament Courville Young.

The family request that visiting hours be observed on Friday, February 13, 2009 from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Saturday, February 14, 2009 from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 5:30 pm Friday evening.
