EUNICEA devoted mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, and friend, Dora Vena Duplechain will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She lived a very full life surrounded by people who loved her and she loved. Dora known as Vena to all who knew her died peacefully on the evening of Wednesday, June 09, 2010 at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was 102.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Oberlin. Rite of Committal will follow in the Durio Cemetery with Pastor Wade McAleece and Brother William Currie officiating.

Vena was born on June 26, 1907 in Oberlin. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. She was a very kind and loving woman and spending time with her family and friends brought a great deal of joy to her life. Vena enjoyed gardening and was a very Christian lady who left a wonderful legacy to her children and family You dont only read the bible, you live it.

She will be sadly missed by her three sons, Leotis Duplechain and wife, Joy of Lake Charles, Merlin Duplechain and wife, Betty of New Iberia, Sam Duplechain and wife, Rosella of Reddell three daughters, Dolorous Sis Spears and husband, Robert Sonny of Reddell, Clairlynn Smith and Wanda McDaniel and husband, Alton all of Oberlin two sisterinlaws, Tookie Sonnier of Kinder and Clair Sonnier of Oberlin twelve grandchildren, Nava Jo Ford, Roger Lee Duplechian, Rusty Duplechain, Missy Duncan, Shon Duplechain, Randy Duplechain, Debra Duplechain, Brent Spears, Todd Spears, Penny Fontenot, Robbin McDaniel and Keith McDaniel thirty five greatgrandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren.

Now she rests in Heaven with her loving husband, Joseph Albert Duplechain parents, Lucian and Ammie Durio Sonnier four brothers three sisters four grandchildren, Karen Duplechain, Vanessa Duplechain, Ray Albert Duplechain and Dale Smith.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at First Baptist Church in Oberlin on Friday, June 11th from 2:30 pm until 10:00 pm and again on Saturday, June 12th from 8:00 am until time of services.
