IOTAThe family announces with sorrow the passing of their beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Velton Cotton Leckelt on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley. He was 58. A Celebration of Life will be held at noon Monday, June 20, 2011 at Ardoins Funeral Home in Iota. Burial will follow in the Dietz Cemetery in Iota with Rev. Willie Benoit officiating.
Velton known as Cotton to all who knew him had a love for the woods, fishing, hunting and trapping but most of all his family including his wife, Myra Leckelt of Opelousas his son, Travis Leckelt and wife, Tara of Lafayette his two daughters, Brandy Romero and husband, Paul of Eunice, Tisha Alexander and husband, Wilton of Egan his lifelong friend, Shelly Peppy LeJeune of Iota his four brothers, Charles, David, and Malcolm Leckelt all of Iota and Ray Leckelt of Church Point his two sisters, Mona Thibodeaux of Iota and Patsy Muller of Lafayette. He is also mourned by his five grandchildren of whom he was very proud, Jake, Alanna and Jaylynn Alexander and Paul Romero, Jr. and India Romero his one great grandchild, Trinity Romero Wolf who was a great source of joy. Cotton will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Now he rests in Heaven with his beloved parents, William and Opal Deshotel Leckelt sibling, Sidney Orillion, L.G. Deshotel, Jeanette Leckelt, J.C. Leckelt, Jr. Helen Koontz and Patrick Leckelt.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Iota on Sunday, June 19th from 9:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Monday, June 20th from 8:00 am until time of services.
