EUNICEA wonderful brother, uncle and friend, Van Roy Montelaro will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him. Van died on Tuesday, March 09, 2010 at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou surrounded by his loved ones. He was 46. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 1:00 pm at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery with Father Gil Dutel Celebrant.

Van was a 1982 graduate of Eunice High School and the owner of Eunice Loss Prevention. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunting, fishing, watersports as well as a die hard LSU fan and a semipro volleyball player. He was an Honorary Member of the Louisiana Sheriffs Association.

Van leaves behind a loving and grateful family including his special friend, Tammy B. Laughlin of Richard his two brothers, Michael Montelaro of Eunice and Kirk Montelaro and wife, Jahn of Mamou his seven sisters, Fannie Augustine of Broussard, Priscilla Jane Sherrick and husband, Gerald Cowboy of Eunice, Jackie Newcomer and husband, Charles Wayne of Sulphur, Susan Fontenot and husband, Gerald Soybean and Debbie Young and husband, James Black all of Eunice, Lana Cormier and husband, Joe of Church Point and Sheila Jordon and husband, James of Youngsville. He was blessed with a large family that also included twenty one nieces and nephews and many friends. He left those who knew him with warm memories to be ever cherished in their hearts.

Now he rests in Heaven with his beloved parents, Sam and Fannie Breaux Montelaro and his sister, Loretta Fay Montelaro.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, March 12, 2010 from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Friday evening led by Deacon Gary Gaudin and Seminarian Nathan Comeaux.
