EUNICEIt is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Sophie Smith Adams announces her passing on Sunday, August 10, 2014 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was 65. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery with Father David Hebert Celebrant.

Sophie was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. She was a very kind and loving woman and spending time with her family and friends brought a great deal of joy to her life. Sophie enjoyed scrapbooking, painting and loved to babysit. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her especially her three daughters, Tina Renee Rollins Cormier and husband, Will of Deridder, Samantha Ortego and husband, Dillard, Sadie Adams and Louis Leger all of Eunice three brothers, William Smith, Jr. and wife, Jovita of Houston, TX, Bruce Smith and wife, Donna of Oakdale, and Mark Smith of Austin, TX one sister, Nelda Ann Stapp and husband, David of Oakdale. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Jessie Carriere, Greg Moss, Kathrine Rollins, Titus, Carson and Ava Ortego and Mattie Leger and further blessed with seven great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lester Ray Adams, Jr daughter, Charity Adams her parents, William and Gladys Young Smith, Sr. two grandchildren Destiny and William LeJeune.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Wednesday, August 13th from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Thursday, August 14th from 8:00 am until time of services. Father David Hebert will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm Wednesday evening.
