Eunice, LA Services celebrating the life of Ruttland Jerry Labry, 82, will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Ardoins Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice with Pastor Tim Moffett officiating.

Ruttland Jerry Labry, born Jerry Ruthland Joseph Labry, a native of Crowley and a resident of Fenton, and most recently Benton, La passed away on July 18, 2009 at the Promise Hospital in Bossier City, LA after a long illness. He was a retired Slots Worker For Coushatta Casino in Kinder and for most of his life was a truck driver for Quality Carriers, Groendyke Transport, Central Crude, Matlack, Acme Truck Line, Younger Brothers, McNair Transport, Earl C. Gibbon, DSI Transports, Tammany Leasing, Wanda Petroleum, Bart Well, Metropolitan Life, Southern National, Texaco, Cirocco Exploration, CSI Hydrostatic Testers, King Stores, Helo Bros, Pepsi Bottling, Meier Rig Construction, Brown Root, Thomas Bryan Assoc, Fogleman, Calcasieu Mercantile, Glade Construction, Dallas Air Conditioning, Sternberg, Berwick Marine, Louisiana State Rice Milling, Lummus Crest, Western Union, and Standard Dredging. He was also an Apprentice Seaman in the United States Naval Reserve during WWII and served at the NRS New Orleans and was awarded the Honorable Service Button at the U. S. Naval Training Center, San Diego, Calif. on October 6, 1945.

He will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Michael Jerry Labry and wife, Kathy of Benton, La and Daniel Rene Labry and wife, Barbara Bobbie of Winnsboro, Tx; one brother, Milton Labry and wife, Joyce of Houston, Tx; one sister, Sybil Broussard of Slidell, La; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Verna Lee Aguillard Labry, and his parents, Lucius Labry and Levina Wright Labry.

The family request that visiting hours be observed on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice from 8:00 AM until time of service at 2 PM.
