EUNICEIt is with heavy hearts to announce the passing of Ruth McGee on December 23, 2009 at her residence at the age of 88. Funeral Services will be Celebrated on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 11:30 am at Ardoins Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the Carron Cemetery with Deacon David Guillory Celebrant. Pallbearers for the service will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.

Ruth was born to the late Joe T. and Zoe David and was married to the late Percy McGee. She attended St. Edmunds and graduated from Eunice High School. She was a fastidious homemaker, excellent seamstress, wonderful cook, relished early mornings in her flowers and adored fishing with a cane pole. She worked for many years as an insurance secretary and did volunteer work as a Pink Lady at Moosa Memorial Hospital.

She coped with the world as few women did, had a deep faith and an abiding respect for the family and its traditions and was a strong advocate of waste not, want not. Ruth was very much loved and will be missed dearly by her two sons, Patrick Charles McGee of Eunice and Michael David McGee and wife, Phyllis of Sulphur; two daughters, Georgia Ann Manuel and husband, Allen of Eunice and Margrett Fels and husband, Joachim Jon of Baton Rouge; fifteen grandchildren, Tanya Berzas, Wesley D. McGee, Lewis J. McGee, Patrick C. McGee, Ryan McGee, Joshua David McGee, Benjamin David McGee, Brian David McGee, Matthew McGee, Deidre Manuel, Cynthia Detraz, Alicia Palmer, Jaime Manuel, Joel Manuel, and Michael Fels; twenty-four great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Her stern, no nonsense outlook on life will be sorely missed.

Now she rests in heaven with her beloved husband, Percy Charles McGee; parents, Joseph and Zoe McGee David; three brothers, Roy David, Julius David, and Leroy David; and one sister, Odile David Frey.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Saturday, December 26, 2009 from 9:00 am until time of services.
