Ruth Ann Courville Karl

EUNICE-It is with great sadness that the family of Ruth Ann Courville Karl announces her passing on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the Oaklane Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Eunice. She was 92. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 12:00 pm at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice with burial will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery.

Ruth grew up in Eunice, LA, the youngest of Sidney and Therese’ Courville’s six children. She was the last surviving child. Ruth attended college and developed a career as a legal secretary. At a dance in Basile for Fort Polk soldiers, she met her future husband, George F. Karl, Jr. They were married on March 10, 1953, and welcomed the first of two children, Karen Tereze on July 25, 1955 and their second child, George Fenton Karl, III on November 26, 1959.

 Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by her two children, Karen Karl Manuel and husband, Windell Manuel of Madison, MS and George F. Karl, III of Poulsbo, WA; three grandchildren, Todd Karl Manuel, Kyle Patrick Manuel, and Mary Ruth Manuel; and five great grandchildren, Aidan Manuel, Dylan Manuel, Jayde Manuel, Kaplan Smith, and Silas Smith.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George F. Karl, Jr.; her parents; her siblings, Walter Courville and Verbie Courville Sanfilippo and husband, Joseph; and great-granddaughter, Janelle Manuel.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 9:00 am until time of services.
