Funeral services for Mr. Russell Ross Bertrand will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2006, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile with burial to follow in the church mausoleum. Fr. Ken Domingue and Fr. Jules Speyrer will officiate.

Mr. Bertrand, age 61 and a resident of Basile, died on Saturday, July 29, 2006, at 9:05 p.m. at Lafayette General Hospital. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Brenda Bertrand, and his parents, Ed and Elda Bertand.

The visitation will begin on Sunday, July 30, 2006, from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. and again on Monday, July 31, 2006, from 6 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be prayed Sunday evening at 7 p.m.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Young Bertrand of Basile; four sons, David Bertrand and wife, Dawn of Tepetate, Danny Bertrand and wife, Kristie of Duralde, Tony Bertrand and wife, Natalie of Basile, and Kevin Bertrand and wife, Page of Kinder; two daughters, Angie McGehee and husband, Jim of Duralde and Christine Marks and husband, Lucas of Opelousas; two brothers, Olan Bertrand and wife, Nell of Zwolle, and Willie Bertrand and wife, Wanda of West Lake; one sister, Laura Lauer and husband, Bob of Powell, Tenn.; two step-sons, Jeremy Fruge of Basile, and David Holman and wife, Lynda of Gauthier, Miss.; 19 grandchildren; one great grandchild; and three step grandchildren.
