IOTA-Funeral services for Mr. Rufus Miller, Sr. will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery with Fr. Mike Polson officiating.

Mr. Miller, age 85, a resident of Iota, LA, died Sunday, August 13, 2006, at 2:15 p.m. at his resident. He served in the Navy from March 1944 to January 1946 on the Landing Craft S.S. Morning Light; was a member of the Domain of Neptuners Rex; two terms on Police Jury from 1953 through 1959; Member of the Knights Of Columbus; a member of the American Legion and a retired farmer.

The visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 from 10:00 A.M. till time of services. A rosary will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00 P.M.

Survivors include his five sons; Charles Miller, PHD of Columbus, Ohio, Rufus Miller, Jr. of Iota, LA, Michael Miller of Rayne, LA, Earnest Miller of Iota, LA, Marcus Miller of Iota, LA; two daughters, Mary Ann Janise of Jennings, LA, Marietta Taylor of Biloxi, MS; one sister, Ruby Bergeaux of Evangeline, LA; 16 grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his parents, Leopold and Mariette Miller and nine siblings.
