EUNICEIt is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Rosa Mae D. Smith announces her passing on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at her home at the age of 84. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Sensat Celebrant.

Rosa enjoyed life, she was a loving and caring mother who loved to cook, planting flowers, going to the casino but her happiest times were spent creating memories with family and friends. She will forever be loved and missed by everyone whose hearts she touched especially her seven children, Barbara S. Tate, Arvin Smith and wife, Sandra both of Eunice, Georgiana S. Fontenot and husband, Delvin of Baton Rouge, Aaron J. Smith and wife, Wedna, Mandy S. Fruge and husband, Chip, Rebecca S. Daigle and husband, Mark and Richard D. Smith all of Eunice. She was a wonderful and loving grandmother to seventeen grandchildren, Timothy Godeau, Monica LeJeune, Blake Smith, Barry Smith, Hayley Ledoux, Dessa Frederick, Jolynn Parker, Lona Fontenot, Casey Smith, Nicholas Smith, Dustin Smith, Amy Aucoin, Coby Virgen, Lacy Manceaux, Randi Hardy, Eliott Daigle, and Jeremy Smith and thirty eight great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a brother, C.S. Darbonne of Lake Charles two sisters, Jeanette Ardoin of Eunice and Winnie Glass of Lake Charles as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She now rests in Heaven with her beloved son, Farrell Glenn Smith her parents, Dorestan and Alice Darbonne her grandson, Brett Daigle a great granddaughter, Molly Hebert and her father, Toby Hebert and a host of brothers and sisters.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Monday, July 15th from 3:00 pm until 10:00 and again on Tuesday, July 16th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm Monday evening.
