EUNICEA beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Rodney L. Manuel will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Rodney died on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones. He was 79. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Father Kendal Faulk Celebrant.
Rodney a resident of Eunice serviced his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was retired from the St. Landry Parish School Board as an educator with over 40 years of experience. He was one of the original faculty at LSUE. After his retirement he served as counselor at St. Edmund High School. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion as well as a former member of the Eunice Lions Club, Eucharistic Minister and Parish Council Member with St. Anthony Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling and fellowship with Rice City Ramblers, Cruisin Cajuns and Fleetwood Travelcade Club.
He leaves behind a loving and grateful family including his wife, Genevieve Gennie Bellemin Manuel of Eunice and his daughter, Laura M. Lombas and husband, Michael of Eunice. He is also mourned by his three grandsons of whom he was very proud of David, Paul and Daniel Lombas all of Eunice. Rodney will be loved and remembered in our hearts forever.
Now he rests in Heaven with his beloved parents, Ozone and Annie Lee Vidrine Manuel.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home of Eunice on Monday, September 13th from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Tuesday, September 14th from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Monday evening by Deacon Gary Gaudin.
