EUNICEIt is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Robert Bobby Soileau announces his passing on Thursday, July 19, 2012 in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side. He was 74. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 21, 2012 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Nathan Comeaux Celebrant.

Robert known as Bobby to all who knew him served his country proudly in the United States Army and was a great outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. A local agriculture leader, he served as President of the LA Seed Rice Growers Association. Bobby spearheaded the efforts to indemnify the farming community in the aftermath of the Union Pacific train derailment. Additionally, with the interest of protecting the farming communities water supply, he was instrumental in the establishment of the Cleco Calpine Water Reservoir. Bobby also served as Chairman of the Committee to elect State Representative, Dale Sittig.

He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He will be missed dearly by his wife of 49 years, Clara Ardoin Soileau of Eunice his two sons, Robert J. Soileau and wife, Julie of St. Cloud, FL, Charles D. Soileau of Bluff Dale, TX his four daughters, Leslie Soileau Zaunbrecher and husband, John Lawrence of Eunice, Susan Soileau Muldowny and husband, David of Lafayette, Vivian Soileau Broussard and husband, Scott of Eunice, Elizabeth Soileau Baumer of Lafayette and a sister, Jacqueline Soileau Doise and husband, Bert. He was blessed with eighteen grandchildren, Adrienne Zaunbrecher Fontenot, John Lawrence Zaunbrecher, Jr., Douglas, Phillip, and Michael Zaunbrecher, Caroline, Jennifer, William and Elizabeth Muldowny, Stephen and, Sarah Jane Soileau, Charles Dillon and Abigail Marie Soileau, Robert, Juliette and Vivian Broussard, Mary Elizabeth and Clara Marie Baumer and further blessed with two great grandchildren. Also mourning his loss is his brotherinlaw, Douglas Ardoin and wife, Carol Sue.

He now rests in Heaven with his beloved parents, Rouseb and Nita Daigle Soileau infant twin sons, James and Paul Soileau and an infant granddaughter, Anabelle Catherine Baumer.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, July 20th from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm and again on Saturday, July 21st from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon David Guillory will recite a Rosary at 7:30 pm Friday evening.
