EUNICE-A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard Clay Chapman, 49 will be Celebrated Friday, May 16, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Eunice. The Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with The Revered Father Keith Derouen Celebrating.

Mr. Chapman, a native of Eunice and a resident of Lafayette, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at his residence. Clay had a life long love for the outdoors. Not only was he an avid sportsman, but he also assisted others in sharing his experiences as a Boy Scout as well as a hunting guide in the Colorado area. Another love in his life was Cajun French Music. Clay was a talented Fiddler as taught by his grandfather, Sady Courville. He loved playing French music with his brother and together they shared many jam sessions and festival concerts. Clay attended Mississippi State University where he lettered in football as a tough Defensive End for the Bulldogs. He later graduated from Nichols State University in Thibodaux, La.

A loving husband, son, brother, uncle and cousin, Clay is survived by his wife of eleven years, Cynthia J. Chapman, DVM, of Lafayette; parents, Hollis and Bonnie Courville Chapman of Baton Rouge; brother, Eric D. Chapman, MD, and his wife Janel of Baton Rouge; sister, Celeste Chapman Buffone and her husband Paul of Baton Rouge; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncle.

So many people loved Clay as he was such a likeable person he will be truly missed.

His Grandparents, Sady and Bessie Courville and Ison and Alice Chapman precede him in death.

Family request that visiting hours be observed on Thursday, May 15, 2008 from 1:00pm.m until 9:00 p.m. and again on Friday, May 16, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. until services. Deacon Eugene LeBouf will recite a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be to the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation, 2000 Quail Drive, Baton Rouge, La. 70808.
