EUNICE-It is with great sadness that the family of Rena Brown Ardoin announces her passing on Sunday, September 20, 2009 at her residence in Eunice at the age of 93. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Monday, September 21, 2009 at 3:30 pm at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Father Gil Dutel Celebrant.
Rena taught school at Eunice Elementary and East Elementary for 34 years. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters Association for 45 years and is also a member of the Louisiana Retired Teachers Association.
A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, Rena will be lovingly remembered by her son, Dr. Van Michael Ardoin and his wife, Cynthia Fink Ardoin of Houma; her daughter, Donna Ardoin Rossner and husband, Dr. Charles W. Rossner of Metairie; four grandchildren, Van Michael Ardoin II, Marc Roland Ardoin and wife, Sara Forbes Ardoin, Ryan Joseph Rossner, and Carter Wade Rossner; two great grandchildren, Alexandra Grace Ardoin and William Marc Ardoin; and a host of nephews and nieces. She left those who knew her with warm memories to cheer us and fill our hearts.
Now she rests in heaven with her beloved husband, Joseph Melka Ardoin; parents, Philip and Egunie Marcantel Brown; her six brothers and three sisters.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Monday, September 21, 2009 from 9:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 11:00 am by the Catholic Daughters Association and at 1:00 pm Monday by Deacon Gary Gaudin.
