EUNICEIt is with the heaviest hearts and great sadness that the family of Phillip Ferdie Vasseur announces his passing on Monday, May 27, 2013 at The Heart Hospital of Lafayette with his loving family by his side at the age of 71. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 2:30 pm on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Msgr. Robert Romero Celebrant.
Phillip known as Ferdie to all who knew him was a mechanic for twenty plus years at John Deere Hollier Implement and retired from the United States Postal Service as a Rural Carrier. He loved yardwork, LSU sports, and the outdoors. He had a passion for food, especially boudin and cracklins. Most of all, he had a gentle soul and loved being with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband for forty four years to Yvonne Courville Vasseur of Eunice a compassionate father to three children, Penni Vasseur and Garrett Bergeron of Carencro Kelly Vasseur Hebert and husband, Keith of Youngsville, and Lance Vasseur of Lafayette a loving brother to Wilfred Vasseur of Ocean Springs, MS and Harry Vasseur of Charlotte, NC. He was a wonderful and loving grandfather to three grandchildren, Valerie and Brittany Fall and Cameron Quesnel. Also mourning his loss are nieces, nephews and friends. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
He now rests in Heaven with his beloved parents, Urban and Louisa Credeur Vasseur and a brother, Joseph Ferrie Vasseur.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Wednesday, May 29th from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Thursday, May 30th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon David Guillory will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm Wednesday evening.
