Born on April 8, 1921 in Mowata, Louisiana he left us to join his saving Lord and loving wife and siblings in the Heavenly kingdom on Thursday, November 01, 2012. He was at his home in Mowata at the time of his death. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 12 noon on Monday, November 05, 2012 at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mowata. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery with Father Joseph Tran Celebrant.
Mr. Frey spent his entire life and career in the Mowata community of Acadia Parish serving the farming public for 65 years as an employee of Edmundson Management Company and manager of Mowata Rice Drier. He will be forever remembered by the farming families as a caring and generous person who could always be counted on and a true man of his word. He was the unofficial Mayor of Mowata.
He was a long time member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society. He faithfully opened the Adoration Chapel every Monday morning at 6am for the past 19 years.
He was a WWII veteran, serving his country as a private in the US Army.
Mr. Frey is survived by his son, Paul Dewey Frey and daughterinlaw Maureen of Baton Rouge, LA. Three grandchildren, Brandon Frey and wife Nicole of Baton Rouge, LA, Celeste Delafield and husband Mark of Prarieville, LA and Douglas Frey and special friend Melissa Watson of Zachary, LA. Three great grandchildren, Anna Delafield, Lauren Delafield and Theresa Frey and one step great grandchild, Andrew Gould. He is also survived by one sisterinlaw, Josephine Vondenstein Frey and a host of nieces and nephews, many of whom attended and helped celebrate his 90th birthday in 2011.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Theresa Songy Frey, his parents, Louis and Mary LeBoeuf Frey, five brothers, Henry, Joseph, John, Anthony and Charles and four sisters Frances Bollich, Helen Andrus, Bernadine Sittig and Henrietta Gotreaux.
At the request of the family visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Sunday, November 4th from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Monday, November 5th from 8:00 am until time of services. Father Joseph Tran will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm Sunday evening.
Pallbearers will be Lenny Frey, LeRoy Frey, Jaime Frey , Steve McBride, Kelly Hundley, Robert Edmundson, Kenneth Bailey and Mark Matuszewski. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Bollich, Leo Zaunbrecher, Danny Coleman, Brodie Coleman and all his surviving nephews.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to caregivers Brenda Coleman and Nelwyne Darbonne, Lenny and Jaime Frey, Heart of Hospice staff and Dr.s Satinder Saini and Karen Roden.
