Patrick Wayne Fontenot, born on May 7, 1949, departed this life on February 6, 2025. Patrick was a devoted husband, loving father, beloved grandfather, great-grandfather, and a cherished friend to many.
A visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Iota on February 10, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at the Northside Assembly of God in Crowley at 1:00 PM. Pastor Johnnie Ray will officiate the services.
An active member of the Northside Assembly of God, Patrick was deeply involved with his church community. Known for his warm hospitality, he often served as a greeter and managed the projector during services, encompassing his devotion and service to others. In addition to his church work, Patrick coached baseball in the 1970s. He had a special love for his grandchildren and embraced the role of "Poppy" not only to his own but to many unofficial children an grandchildren. Patrick's kindness, commitment to family, and unwavering spirit will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Patrick is survived by his six children: John McClelland and wife, Lisa of Bunkie; Roma Lynne Bergeron of Jennings; Joseph Nelson “Bubba” Bergeron, Jr. of Iota; Sabrina Ann Lewis and husband, Jackie of Burleson, TX; Cody Bergeron and wife, Shelly of Egan; and Shawna Lupinacci and husband, T.J. of Fort Worth, TX; his brother, Marcus Fontenot and fiancé, Julie Boudreaux and his sisters, Deborah Oliver and her husband, Ronald; Connie Guidry and her husband, Kevin; and Charmiane Richard and her husband, Rufus; his ten grandchildren: Katie Duplechain, Jacob Lewis, Stevie Beth Lewis, Cory Bergeron, Austin “A.J.” Bergeron, John-Michael McClelland, Jacob McClelland, Joni McClelland, Alyssa Bergeron, and Thomas Lupinacci, as well as eleven great-grandchildren: John Patrick Fruge, Leah Kate Fruge, Ryker Addington, Garic Addington, Julianne McClelland, Lane McClelland, Jolene McClelland, Andrew McClelland, Brooklyn Coulon, Carson Coulon, and Jett Wall.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavonia Hicks Fontenot; his father, Dewey Fontenot; his mother, Rose Bergeron Fontenot Rozas; and his brother, Harvey Dale Fontenot.
