EUNICE~It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ophelia "Sophie" Aymond announces her passing on Monday, April 09, 2018 at Oaklane Wellness and Rehabilitation Center the age of 92. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Sensat Celebrant.

Sophie was a hard working woman, and a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed family gatherings each weekend and was retired from Harry Smith Hardware after working 30 years. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her especially her children, Morella A. Johnson of Eunice, Leila A. LaFleur and husband, Raven of Eunice, Sherrill A. Manuel and husband, Tommy of Basile, Kerrill Aymond of Mamou, and Dennie Aymond and wife, Lori of Eunice; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Theophile Aymond, Jr.; parents, Dennie and Agatha Thibodeaux Schexnayder; and sister, Sarah Dies.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Tuesday, April 10th from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Wednesday, April 11th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon David Guillory will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm on Tuesday.
