EUNICEA devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Newton P. Thibodeaux will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He lived a very full life surrounded by people who loved him and he loved. Newton passed away on Friday, February 26, 2010 at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice at the age of 81. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery with Father Tom Voorhies Celebrant.
Newton was a graduate of Iota High School as well as the Southwestern Louisiana Institute. He served his country proudly in the United States Army as a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II. Currently he was a parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Newton was formerly a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, Rotary International, Elks Lodge, Chairman of the Moosa Memorial Hospital Board and a Board member for First National Bank. He was a real estate investor a home contractor and an insurance business agent where he served as Past President of Newton Thibodeaux Agency and Bayou State Homes. Newton also had a love for fishing and playing cards.
He leaves behind a loving and grateful family including his loving wife, Terry F. Thibodeaux of Eunice his daughter, Paula Jacobi and husband, Joe of Eunice his two sons, Newton Chip Thibodeaux and wife, Connie of Eunice, Daniel C. Thibodeaux and wife, Carlene of Harahan his brother, Leonce Pip Thibodeaux of Eunice his sister, Shirlene Arceneaux of Geismar and the joys of his life, his six grandchildren, Heather Albano, Garrett, Amanda and Alexis Thibodeaux, Justin and Addie Thibodeaux and his three great grandchildren, Rebecca and Caroline Albano and Chandler Rozas. Also mourning his loss are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Now he rests in Heaven with his beloved parents, Oleat and Leah Brown Thibodeaux and twelve brothers and sisters.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm and again on Sunday, February 28, 2010 from 9:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm Saturday evening and the Catholic Daughters will recite a Rosary at 2 pm Saturday.
