BASILEIt is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Nesby Bergeron announces his passing on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the Southwest Louisiana War Vets Home in Jennings at the age of 88. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 20, 2012. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Father David Hebert Celebrant.
A proud veteran, Nesby served in the United States Army in World War II where he received an American Theater Campaign Ribbon, AsiaticPacific Campaign Ribbon with 2 bronze stars, good conduct medal, Victory Ribbon and 2 overseas service bars. He loved fishing, hunting and gardening as well as making beer and wine. Most of all, Nesby adored his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a giving and loving father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be very deeply missed by his three sons, Donald R. Bergeron and wife, Gretta of Basile, Darrell G. Bergeron and wife, Melodye of Franklin, Michael D. Bergeron and wife, Sherry of Basile his daughter, Gloria Bergeron Thibodeaux and husband, Ronald of Fulshear, TX and his sister, Alice Stevens of Lockport. He was blessed with eleven grandchildren and further blessed with thirty three great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
He now rests in Heaven with his beloved wife, Mardrie Ardoin Bergeron parents, Edgar and Rosa Rogers Bergeron siblings, Leah B. Gros, Justilen Bergeron, Edgar Bergeron, Jr and Mary B. Ashley.
At the request of the family visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Basile on Monday, November 19th from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm and again on Tuesday, November 20th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Robby Leger will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm Monday evening.
