EUNICE It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Nelson Godeaux announces his passing on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice at the age of 74. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on October 17, 2009 at St. Thomas Chapel in Savoy at 11:00 am. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Thomas Chapel Cemetery with Father Wayne Duet Celebrant.

Nelson a resident of Eunice was the Captain of the Mardi Gras Association of Eunice for over 30 years and his favorite past time was riding horses. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. He lived a very full life surrounded by people who loved him and he loved. Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife of 55 years, Geraldine Soileau Godeaux of Eunice; his son, Carl Godeaux and wife, Clarice of Eunice; three daughters, Rhonda Thibodeaux of Eunice, Diana Ardoin and husband, Steven of Mamou, and Tuwana Bellon and her husband, Dewey of Eunice as well as his eight grandchildren Shelly Godeaux Holley, Amber Leger and Steven Ardoin, Jr., Britz, Jacob, Nathan, and Chantelle Chatagnier and McKenzi Bellon and his nine great-grandchildren.

Now he rests in heaven with his loving parents, Britz and Dora Miller Godeaux and his son-in-law Joseph Roy Thibodeaux.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Friday, October 16, 2009 from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm and again on Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 7:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm Friday evening.
