EUNICE-A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 am Friday, November 14, 2008 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice for Nelda Ann Andrus Simmons, 67, who passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at the Eunice Extended Care. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Thomas More Cemetery with The Reverend Father Cedric Sonnier, Celebrant.

Mrs. Simmons was a resident of Eunice who enjoyed cooking, crafts, sewing, and drinking her coffee. She was a loving, kind, and honest person who enjoyed visiting with everyone and never met a stranger. Her family will miss their weekend gatherings, which was something Nelda loved dearly.

A Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Friend, Nelda is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert Simmons of Eunice; one son, Douglas Simmons of Eunice; four daughters, Donna Thibodeaux and husband, Danny, Liz Bryan and husband, Rick all of Eunice, Diana Richard and husband, Neal of Lafayette, Dana Olivier and husband, Faron of Eunice; one sister, Barbara Juneau and husband, Day of Lafayette; nine grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hilton and Ethel Andrus; and a brother, Hilton Robert Andrus, Jr.

The family request that visiting hours be observed on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Friday, November 14, 2008 from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm.
