BASILEIt is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Mitchell Anthony Boenig, Sr. announces his passing on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Overton Brooks Veterans Hospital in Shreveport. He was 55. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Rite of Committal will follow in the Liberty Cemetery with Father Brian Taylor Celebrant.

Mitchell served his country proudly in the United States Army as well as a paramedic offshore. He will be greatly missed by his significant other, Sherry Fletcher of Kinder his son, Mitchell Anthony Boenig, Jr. and his wife, Erin of Basile his four brothers, Charles Lennard Boenig of Jennings, Kenneth Lee Boenig, Vernon Gerard Boenig, and Ronald Gene Boenig, all of Basile his three grandchildren, Mason Smith, Emma and Sy Mitchell Boenig.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Charles and Anna Belle Landry Boenig.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Basile on Wednesday, April 25th from 4:00 pm until time of services on Thursday, April 26th. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Wednesday evening.
