EUNICE-A wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Melda Louise Fontenot will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Melda passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was 82. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at 1:30 pm at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Gil Dutel Celebrant.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Cynthia and Glenn Daugereaux of Crowley, Monica and Jack Daigle, Sr., Steve and Myra Street, Sr., Clifford and Sherry Fontenot, and Frances Matt all of Eunice, Joe and Suszy Fontenot of Breaux Bridge, Paul and Margaret Fontenot of Chedister, AR, Pauline Edmonds of Eunice, Rita and Greg Richmond of Union Hill and Pierre Fontenot of Eunice; her two sisters, Rita Bieber of Cobina, CA. and Juanita Jones of Pinion Hills, CA; and her twenty nine grandchildren and forty five great grandchildren.

Now she rests in heaven with her beloved parents, Ralph and Nicolasa Herrera Pierce; her husband, Hubert Joseph Fontenot, Sr.; and a brother and a sister.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Monday, September 14, 2009 from 1:00 pm until 10 pm and again on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm Monday evening.
