BASILEIt is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Mattie Jane Langley Miller announces her passing on Saturday, June 08, 2013 at the Evangeline Extended Care Hospital in Mamou. She was 82. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery with Father David Hebert Celebrant.
Mattie was a former CCD Program Director for the St. Augustine Catholic Church as well as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector, a life long member of the Ladies Altar Society and a member of God and Coffee Prayer Group, Come Lord Jesus Prayer Group and Prayers and Patching Quilting Group. She loved working in her yard and sewing, but most of all she loved her family especially her six sons, Mack Miller and wife, Brenda of Lafayette, Steve Miller and wife, JoAnn of Basile, Carmen J. Miller, Jr. of Lafayette, Willie Miller and wife, Lainie of Alexandria, Marcus Miller and wife, Suzette of Vidrine and Jeffery Miller of Baton Rouge. She was blessed with fourteen grandchildren, Jason Miller and his wife, Christiana, Nicole M. Arslanagic and her husband, Emir, Scott Miller and wife, Nikki, Troy Miller wife, Toni, Ashley M. Sonnier and husband Jason, Amber Miller, Olivia, Abigail, Marcilet and Claire Marie Miller, Noah and Emily Kaye Miller, Luke and Finn Miller a step grandson, Kevin Hawkins and step granddaughter, Tammie Rogers further blessed with ten great grandchildren, Nicolas, Alexis, Maddison, Stephen, Callie, Hunter, Foster, Aliyah, Hannah, and Laine four step great grandchildren, Shelby, Kaylie, Whitney, and Dorian. Mattie will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
She now rests in Heaven with her beloved husband, Carmen Joseph Miller, Sr two daughters, Mary and Marie Miller her parents, Deo Mel and Marcilet Miller Langley three brothers, Mackel, Joseph, and Louis Langley.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Basile on Monday, June 10th from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm and again on Tuesday, June 11th from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Monday evening.
The family asks in lieu of flowers, and for those who desire, memorial contributions be made in Matties memory St. Augustine CCD and St. Augustine Scholarship Award.
