BASILE-A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday, September 26, 2008 at 10:00 am at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile, for Emily Sonnier Langley, 85, who passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at her residence in Basile. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery with Father Brian Taylor officiating.

Emily was a 1941 graduate of Basile High School, as well as a custodian at Basile Bank and private sitting with elderly. Emilys children, family and friends were her life. Those of us, who have been blessed to have known her, loved her, laughed with her and cried with her will cherish every moment of every day of every year that God has allowed us to share with her. We are grateful for the gift she will forever be to us. Emily is survived by her four wonderful children, a son, Willie Louis Langley and wife, Dorothy of Basile; three daughters, Judy Hopwood of Zachary, Linda Lolan and husband, Sam of New Iberia, and Donna Smith and husband, Jerry of Basile; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Lovenia Schambers Langley; a brother, Willie Louis Sonnier; and a son-in-law John B. Hopwood.

The family request that visiting hours be observed at Ardoins Funeral Home in Basile on Thursday, September 25, 2008 from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm and again on Friday, September 26, 2008 from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Thursday evening.
