EUNICE~ It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mary Jane Stephens Chapman announces her passing on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Eunice Manor Nursing Home at the age of 88. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father William Schambaugh, Celebrant, and Father Jude Thierry, Concelebrant.
Mary was born on May 28, 1935 in Eunice to the late Renis LeBouef and Nora LeBouef Schambaugh. She was old-fashioned and loved to visit, pray her rosary, and go on cruises. She loved her family and will be dearly missed by all, especially her children, David Stephens and wife, Monica of Eunice, Byron Stephens and wife, Sara of Youngsville, Charlene Darbonne and husband, Bobby of Iota, and Connie Gardner and husband, Micheal of Iota; her sister, Margie Sonnier of Lake Arthur; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; fourteen great-great grandchildren; as well as extended family and many dear friends.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Nelson Joseph Stephens and Roy J. Chapman, Sr.; daughter, Janell Miller and her late husband, Larry; brother, Belvin LeBouef; and sisters, Delores Vizena, Irene Manuel, and Barbara Prather.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Tuesday, June 6th from 5:00 pm until 8:00pm, and again on Wednesday, June 7th from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be prayed at 12:00 pm on Wednesday.
