BASILE-It is with great sadness that the family of Marshall Goodly announces his passing on Monday, August 31, 2009 at Cornerstone Hospital of Southwest Louisiana in Sulphur. He was 66. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday, September 05, 2009 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile at 11:00 am. Rite of Committal will follow in the Assumption Cemetery with Father Brian Taylor Celebrant.
Marshall a native of the Basile Elton area and a resident of Jennings will be remembered as one who had a great love for outdoors, farming, raising horses, and trail riding as well as cooking. He will be sadly missed by his companion, Yvonne Fontenot of Jennings, his three sons, Michael Goodly of Basile, Arthur and Jarvis Goodly both of Lake Charles; his three daughters, Karen Ann McCoullough and her husband, Tony and Rocquel Shackelford and her husband, Roderick all of Houston, TX, and Serita Goodly of Lake Charles; his four brothers, Norris Goodly and his wife, Melba of Welsh, Lawrence Goodly and his wife, Jo Murel of Sulphur, Morris Goodly and his wife, Brenda of Houston, TX and Rodney Goodly and his wife, Roberta of West Lake; his two sisters, Josephine Bellard and her husband, David of Lacassine, and Mary Mae Davis of Houston, TX; his sister-in-law, Mildred Goodly, married to the late Vorris Goodly; his thirteen grandchildren and one great grandson. Marshall will be forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved. He will be truly missed.
Now he rests in heaven with his beloved parents, Theodore and Elizabeth Myctryre Goodly, his brothers, Vorris, Rodney, Otis, and Horace Goodly.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Saturday, September 05, 2009 at Ardoins Funeral Home in Basile from 9:00 am until time of services. Deacon Robert Leger will recite a rosary at 9:30 am.
