Marlene Richard

 With heavy hearts, the family of Marlene Simmons Richard announces her peaceful passing on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Lafayette General Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. She lived a remarkable 87 years, leaving an indelible mark on those she touched.

 A celebration of her life will be held at noon Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice, followed by her burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, where Rev. Korey Lavergne will officiate. Loretta Kurta will pray a Rosary at 9:30 am on Tuesday.

 Marlene was born on February 19, 1937, to Walter and Eva Duval Simmons. She had a zest for life, enjoying tennis, fishing, hunting, and trips to the beach. A dedicated caregiver at heart, she found joy in caring for stray animals and nurturing her loved ones. Marlene was a wonderful mother and grandmother, known for her sweet soul and unwavering love for The Lord.

 Her legacy will continue through her loving husband, Lionel Richard; four children: Denise Richard, Sheila Bergeaux, Lynn Richard Bihm and husband, Craig and Chad Richard, along with his wife, Donna. She is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Lee Anna Simmons Beaugh and Linda Navelski, and the nine grandchildren who were the light of her life: Tasha Richard, Nicholas Richard, Stefanie Ray, Dana Bergeaux, Alise Bergeaux, Beau Bergeaux, Jessica West, Eric Richard, and Erica Guidry.

 Marlene was preceded in death by her parents and beloved grandsons, Nicholas John Richard, Craig Bihm, Jr., and James Everett.

 Carrying her to her resting, Eric Richard, Chad Richard, Craig Bihm, Chris Gobert, Dustin Heinen and Traven Heinen.

 In honor of Marlene’s memory, a visitation will take place at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Tuesday, September 24, from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services.
