Mark Cortina, Sr.

EUNICE-~It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Mark Anthony Cortina, Sr. announces his passing on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at the Carpenter House in Lafayette at the age of 65. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice.

       Mark, known as Foe by all, was a devoted father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was a hard worker for all of his life and worked in the oilfield and at Baham’s Portables.  Mark enjoyed cooking, listening to his music, and watching LSU and Saints football, but most of all he cherished spending time with his family. There was never a dull moment while spending time with him and he never met a stranger. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him, especially his children, Mark A. Cortina, Jr. and wife, Mattie of Sunset, Christy Cortina of Eunice, Danny Lynn Bertrand, Jr. and wife, Cylynthia of Natchez, MS, and Kimberly Richard and partner, Chucky of Eunice; brothers, Dewey Cortina and wife, Robin of Ewing, NJ, Charles Cortina and wife, Sandra of Eunice, and Chris Cortina of Eunice; sisters, Jennifer H. Cortina, Susan McCauley and husband, Billy, Cindy Blanchard and husband, Michael, Theresa Bordelon and husband, Barry, all of Eunice, and Lucretia West and husband, Chad of Lan’se Meg; his twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren who will miss their “Pop-Pop”; as well as extended family and friends.

       He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marlene Cortina; mother, Velma Cortina McCauley and husband, Franklin; father, Louis Cortina; brothers, Scott Cortina and Stephen Cortina; and niece, Shannah Fontenot.

       At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm, and again on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Friday.
