EUNICEThe family announces with deepest sorrow, the passing of Lurnest J. Fruge on Sunday, December 02, 2012 at the Alexandria VA Medical Center at the age of 86. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 08, 2012. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Deacon T.J. Richard officiating.

A proud veteran, Lurnest served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a retired rice farmer and he had a love for fishing, hunting and gardening. Most of all, Lurnest adored his wife and family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a supportive, giving and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be very deeply missed by his loving wife of 69 years, Nolia Ardoin Fruge of Mallet his six daughters, Diana Fruge Lavergne and husband, Glynn of Eunice, Jeannie Fruge Anding and husband, Joe of Opelousas, Theresa Fruge Vidrine and husband, Ronny of Opelousas, Janet Fruge Prudhomme of Lawtell, Jessica Fruge Vasseur of Opelousas and Angie Fruge Thibodeaux and husband, Kevin of Prairie Ronde. He was blessed with twelve grandchildren, Kurt and Shannon Lavergne, Jeanne C. Lantier, Paul Anding, Brian and Mark Vidrine, Brannon Prudhomme, Lance Vasseur, Lainey V. Martinez, Laurie V. Perkins, Logan and Cort James Thibodeaux and further blessed with seventeen great grandchildren.

He now rests in Heaven with his beloved parents, Adaist and Adia Brown Fruge his two brothers, Sweenie and Hillward Fruge three sisters, Sylvia Fruge Bidez , Ina and Mary Lee Fruge and soninlaw, Lucius Vasseur.

Pallbearers honored to serve are his nine grandsons, Kurt and Shannon Lavergne, Paul Anding, Brian and Mark Vidrine, Brannon Prudhomme, Lance Vasseur, Logan and Cort James Thibodeaux.

At the request of the family visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Saturday, December 8th from 9:00 am until time of services.
