BASILEThe children of Lula Mae Rider Pickett are saddened to announce that their dear mother who peacefully slipped away in her 79th year with them by her side at Oak Lane Wellness Rehabilitation Center on the evening of Monday, November 26, 2012. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, November 30, 2012 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery with Father Cedric Sonnier Celebrant.
Lula was the owner and operator of the Diamond Caf and she was best described as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who always had an open heart and who devoted her life to her family. Precious memories of her will remain forever in the hearts of her children and those who love her. She has received her wings and is now soaring above looking over her son, J. Bruce Pickett and wife, Kathie of Sulphur her two daughters, Brenda Rider and husband, Terry of Eunice and Elizabeth Blackwell and husband, David of Basile. She was blessed with six grandchildren, Stacy Stoker, James Tiger Pickett, Vicki Jenkins, Nikki Taylor, Wendy Rider and Abbie Blackwell and further blessed with twelve great grandchildren, Kalli, Shelbi, Jason, Jr. Buster and Mackenzie Stoker, Hanna, Jacob, and Jade Jenkins, Haleigh and Hunter Pickett, Sadye and Dylan Taylor and Trace Manuel and one great great grandson, Jackson Stoker.
She now rests in Heaven with her beloved husband, John Floyd Pickett her parents, Oda and Marie Fontenot Rider four brothers and one sister.
At the request of the family visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Basile on Thursday, November 29th from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Friday November 30th from 8:00 am until time of services. Come Lord Jesus Group will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm Thursday evening and the Acts Community will recite one at 8:00 pm.
