He was born in Eunice, March 19, 1927 to John Austin Sanders and Eva Genevieve Vidrine Sanders. He had a traditional farm upbringing and never lost his love for life and the land. The flower boxes at his home were planted with the necessary green onions , peppers , and tomatoes and he was known for milking a cow well into the 1970s. During his years at Eunice High School, he was a golf caddy at the Eunice Country Club, then worked for the B. Lewis Construction Co. and painted with his relatives, the Bult brothers. He was proud of their work at St. Anthony Catholic Church and helped to paint the saints on the ceiling that have been a focus for many youthful churchgoers over the years.
Lloyd served in the Army during the Korean War. Two days before his deployment to Korea, he met an officer from Louisiana who placed him in the Military Police due to his ability to speak French. He served in Germany where the dialect was very similar to Cajun French and was able to do some undercover work. He was a proud and active member of the VFW and American Legion in Eunice. Upon his return home, he began a career in the oilfield industry and would later own and operate TH Well Service Company until his retirement in 1976.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying gardening, camping, hunting, but most of all fishing. His stories and pranks were legendary, but he was best known for the love of his animals. A family joke was the wish to be reincarnated as one of Lloyds dogs. Cooking was a great hobby and the first room he planned when building his home was the outdoor kitchen.
Paw Paw will be greatly missed by his children, Bobbye S. Arnold, Jack Austin Sanders Anne, Patrick William Sanders Tammie, and Pamela S. Lavergne David brother, Michael Ray Sanders sisters, Joyce S. Comeaux and Sue S. Carrier eleven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren as well as his morning coffee buddies at McDonalds and Ronnies ,all of Eunice.
He now rests in Heaven with his beloved wife of 59 years, Jackie Trichel Sanders son, John Homer Buster Sanders and his parents.
Lloyd touched the hearts of many and never met a stranger. His strength was making everyone feel special.
