EUNICEOur mom, Leana Dale Matt passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the Opelousas General Health System at the age of 81 with her loving children by her side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 26, 2012 at St. Thomas More Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Cedric Sonnier Celebrant.
Dale worked with the St. Landry Parish School Board as a Dietary Assistant. She was an active member of the St. Thomas More Church, Ladies Altar Society of St. Thomas More Church, Catholic Daughters of St. Anthony Catholic Church for 43 years as well as a member of American Legion Auxiliary. Most of all, Dale adored her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a giving and loving mother, grandmother and friend and will be very deeply missed by all who knew her especially her four children, her son, Silton J. Matt, Jr. and wife, Jane of Baton Rouge three daughters, Mary CatherineKitty Cormier and husband, David, Pamela Dale LaFleur and husband, Charles Johnson, Cynthia Marie Hebert and husband, Dana all of Eunice. She was a wonderful and loving grandmother to nine grandchildren, Scott Cormier of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Brandon Cormier of Baton Rouge, Jillian Brown and Lisa Fontenot both of Lafayette, Ellie Carman of Vidrine, Beth Brown of Eunice, Chad Hebert of Scott, Ashley Matt and Stephanie Matt both of Baton Rouge eleven great grandchildren, Alyssa and Amanda Brown, Jacob and Ethan Cormier, Garet, Lindsy, Caleb, and Olivia Hebert, Mallory and Vivian Fontenot and Gavin Brown.
She now rests in Heaven with her beloved husband, Silton Joseph Matt, Sr. grandson, Toby Hebert great granddaughter, Molly Hebert parents, Tanzy and Beliza Huval Ardoin and a sister, Natheline Young.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Thursday, October 25th from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm and again on Friday, October 26th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon David Guillory will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm Thursday evening. Catholic Daughters will recite a Rosary at 10:00 am Friday morning.
