Eunice-Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, October 02, 2006, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice, for Mr. Laney Fats Smith, 74, who died Friday, September 29, 2006, at the Cornerstone Hospital.

Interment will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery in Eunice, with Father Cedric Sonnier officiating.

Mr. Smith was a resident of Basile. He also owned and operated Smith Compressor of Eunice and was a Veteran of the United States Army.

Survivors includes his wife, Ella Mae Smith of Basile; two sons, Terry James Smith and wife, Joewona Ann of Basile, Jerry Paul Smith and wife, Donna Marie of Basile; two sisters, Irene Koshak of Wisconsin, Hazel Leblanc and husband, George of Baton Rouge; and five grandchildren, Brandy Nicole Smith of Sulpher, Derek Lane Smith, Anthony Joseph Smith, Amanda Renee Smith and Travis James Smith all of Basile.

He is preceded in death by four daughters, his parents and four brothers.

Visitation will be begin on Sunday, October 01, 2006, from 9:00 am until time of services on Monday, October 02, 2006. A rosary will be recited on Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
