EUNICE-A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice for Mr. Kern E. Fruge, 82, who passed away Sunday, February 18, 2007, at his residence.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Tom Voorhies officiating.
Mr. Fruge was a policeman for the City of Eunice for 30 years. Upon retirement he was Assistant Chief of Police. He was in the United States Marine Corp and a Veteran of World War II. He was in the American Legion and VFW. Mr. Fruge was a avid hunter, fisherman and volunteered playing his accordion at the Acadian Culture Center in Eunice. Kern and Marene celebrated 60 years of marriage on September 28, 2006.
Survivors include his wife, Marene Matt Fruge of Eunice; two daughters, Paulina F. Johnson of Eunice and Juanita F. Griffith and husband, Tom of Baton Rouge; one grandson, Kevin Scott Johnson and wife, Lois of Eunice and one great grandchild, Ashley Nicole Johnson.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Marie Fruge.
The family request that visitation hours be observed from 12:00 pm until 9:00 pm Monday, February 19, 2007 and again on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Monday evening.
