BASILE~ It is with heavy hearts that the family of Kenneth “Sonny” Johnson announces his passing on Saturday, July 02, 2022 at Oaklane Wellness & Rehabilitation Center at the age of 71. A Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 09, 2022 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Inurnment will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Father Keenen Brown, Celebrant.
Sonny as he was known to many was born on October 03, 1950 to Ano and Helen Miller Johnson. He was a 1968 graduate of Elton High School and was a retired carpenter. Sonny loved spending time with his family especially his grandkids. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him especially his wife of fifty- two years, Liz R. Johnson of Basile. He was a loved and devoted father to two sons, Steven Johnson and wife, Rose Ruello of DeRidder and Brian Johnson of Youngsville: two brothers, Carol Johnson and wife, Belinda of Broussard and Robert Johnson and wife, Susie of Lake Charles and sister, Deanna Griggs and husband, Gordon of Moss Bluff. He was a wonderful grandfather to three grandsons, Asa, Wade and Gabe Johnson and two great granddaughters, Eliette and Jordyn Johnson: as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, half-brother, Kermick Johnson and a great granddaughter, Evelyn Johnson.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile on Saturday, July 9th from 9:00 am until time of Mass. A Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 am on Saturday.
The family would like to thank Oaklane and HOPE hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
