It is with profound sadness, the family of Keith A. Heinen announces his sudden passing on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at the age of 67. A beloved father, grandfather, and friend, Keith's warm spirit and infectious laughter touched the lives of everyone who knew him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at St. Leo IV Roman Catholic Church in Roberts Cove, followed by burial at the St. Leo Catholic Cemetery.
Born on June 13, 1957, Keith dedicated himself to his work as a self-employed farmer, cultivating rice, crawfish, and beans. More importantly, he cultivated a legacy of love, kindness, and humor that will resonate through the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Known for his quick wit, Keith had a remarkable ability to bring joy and laughter into every conversation. His playful jokes and entertaining stories would light up any room, making even the darkest days a little brighter. Above all, his devotion to family was unparalleled; every moment spent with his grandchildren, whether riding around the farm or sharing laughter, was a treasure cherished deeply.
Keith's passions extended beyond his farm. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life—playing golf at the Eunice Country Club with his buddies, hunting, fishing, and bringing his family together for barbecues. The serene shores of Dauphin Island Beach held a special place in his heart, where joyful memories were painted against the backdrop of sun-soaked laughter and warmth.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him especially his four daughters, Greta Heinen Fontenot and husband, Kane of Vidrine, Sarah Heinen Rider and husband, Andy of Duralde, Melissa Heinen Higginbotham and husband, Kory of Lafayette and Alison Heinen Comeaux and husband David of Duralde; mother of his daughters, Diana Hoffpauer Heinen of Lafayette; his brothers, Johnny Heinen of Roberts Cove, Bill Heinen and wife, Jean of Lake Charles, Barry Heinen and wife, Kat of Lafayette and Paul Heinen and wife, Patricia of Lake Charles; his sisters, Sandra Heinen Lavergne and husband, Brad of Roberts Cove and Sherie Heinen Hanley and husband, Pat of Welsh. He will also be missed by his pride and joys, his 11 grandchildren, Katherine Fontenot, Kaden Fontenot, Nicholas Fontenot, Ryan Rider (Harley), Seth Rider, Abby Rider, Claire Higginbotham, Katie Higginbotham, Hank Comeaux, Jack Comeaux and Peter Comeaux; and his two great-grandchildren, Karson and Elizabeth Rider; brother-in-law, Elliot Higinbotham of Roberts Cove; as well as his extended family and dear friends.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gertie Leger Heinen; sister, Debbie Heinen Higginbotham; sister-in-law, Jeanette Heinen; nephew, Matt Heinen; and great-niece, Alexis Kathryn Heinen.
A visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Eunice starting at 9:00 am until the time of service, with a Rosary recited at 2:00 pm by Father Billy Massey.
