EUNICE-Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, July 22, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Eunice for Mrs. Julia S. Powell, 86, who passed away on Friday, July 20, 2007.

Interment will follow in the St. Louis Cemetery in Eunice with her grandson, Rev. Jeff Powell officiating.

Mrs. Powell was a native and resident of Eunice. Throughout her life she was very active in benevolence work, ministering to the sick, poor, and shut-ins. She loved her family and was a devoted grandmother.

A Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, Mrs. Powell is survived by her two sons, Duey Duke Powell, Jr. and wife, Winetta of Mamou, Brent Powell and wife, Carol of Lafayette; three grandchildren, Julie Sonnier and husband, Tim of Lafayette, Tiffani Heinen and husband, Dr. Monty, Pastor Jeff Powell and wife, Jane of High Springs, Florida; nine great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Duey Powell, Sr, preceded her in death.

The family request that visitation hours be observed at Ardoins Funeral Home in Eunice on Saturday, July 21, 2007 from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Sunday, July 22, 2007 from 9:00 am until time of services.

Pallbearers were Rev. Frank Stagg, Dr. Monty Heinen, Vernon Fuselier, Winston Fontenot, Todd Stagg and Kent Stagg. Jr. Pallbearers were Tyler Powell and Austin Powell.
