BASILEIt is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family announces the passing of a loving wife, dear mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Joyce Reed LaFleur on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the Evangeline Extended Care in Mamou with her loving family by her side. She was 80. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 1:00 pm at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Rite of Committal will follow in the Reed Cemetery with Father Brian Taylor Celebrant.
Joyce was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. She was a kind and loving woman and spending time with her family and friends brought a great deal of joy to her life. She will be missed dearly by her husband, Claude LaFleur of Basile her two sons, Michael LaFleur and wife, Donna of Basile, Carl LaFleur and wife, Catherine of Kinder her two daughters, Patricia L. McCoy and husband, Frank of Elton, Pam L. Miller and husband, Marcus of Iota her brother, Willius Reed and wife, Barbara of Basile and her sister, Diane Deshotel of Jennings. She was the cherished grandmother of seven grandchildren, Jeremy McCoy, Kim Smith, Bryan and Nicholas McCoy, Hannah Miller, Kyle LaFleur and Lacey Miller three step grandchildren, Amber Menard, Nicole and Nicholas Moldovsky six great grandchildren, Jada and Madi McCoy, Bryson and Baylor McCoy, Austin and Carah Smith.
She now rests in Heaven with her beloved parents, Wilford and Marguette Dupre Reed.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Basile on Sunday, February 13th from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Monday, February 14th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon John Eaves will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm Sunday evening.
