EUNICEIt is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our loving father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, Joseph Sylven Soileau, at his home on Friday, February 18, 2011 at the age of 76. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Inurnment will follow in the Old Ville Platte Cemetery with Father Randall Moreau officiating.
Joseph known as Sylven to all who knew him served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. In his younger years, he attended the Southwest Louisiana Institute. Sylven was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten by his three sons, Kent Michael Soileau and wife, Mandy of Lake Charles, Gregory Paul Soileau and wife, Mary of Houston, and David Blaine Soileau of Eunice his daughter, Sandy S. Jarrell and husband, Charles of Opelousas his three brothers, Winston, Vernell and J.C. Soileau his seven sisters, Louella Smith, Lela May Sis Pilgrim, Barbara Reed, Patricia Courville, Jane Gattuso, Shirley Fontenot and Flossy Fontenot. He is also mourned by his six grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and two step grandchildren as well as many nephews and nieces.
He now rests in Heaven with his beloved parents, Charles and Loza Soileau and his brother, Larry Soileau.
Friends are invited to a gathering with the family at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 from 10am until time of services.
