EUNICE-Our hearts are heavy as we have lost a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, Joseph "J.C." Labbie at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria at the age of 77. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery with Father Travis Abadie, Celebrant.
Joseph, known as J.C., was a well-known accordion player. He had a Cajun band and played all over Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, California, and even in Graz, Austria at a music festival. He played his accordion every Saturday morning for 20 years at Diana's Brass Rail in Mamou. He was also an avid football fan and brought his grandchildren and great grandchildren to every game during football season. He loved the Eunice High Bobcats, LSU and the Saints. J.C. will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him especially his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Delores V. Labbie of Eunice; three daughters, Carla Manuel and husband, Tim of Eunice, Emily Negrini and husband, Mike of Katy, TX, and Jennifer Labbie and Kevin of Eunice; sister, Marie Fontenot of Mamou; four grandchildren, Bryan Labbie, Joshua Lejeune, Hali Guillory, and Kristi Negrini; and four great grandchildren, Aiden Lejeune, Kason Guillory, Keidon Guillory, and Allie Jo Fruge.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Clemance Thibodeaux Labbie.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice on Saturday, March 12th from 10:00 am until time of services. A rosary will be recited by Layton Thibodeaux at 11:30 am on Saturday morning.
