EUNICE-Funeral service for Mr. Ferdie J. Brown, Sr. was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice, LA. Burial following in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Deacon David Guillory officiating.

Mr. Brown, age 79 and a resident of Eunice, died on Sunday, June 25, 2006, at 7:20 p.m. at the Acadian Medical Center in Eunice, LA. Mr. Brown was a WW II Army veteran. In his early years, he worked at his fathers meat market where at that time, he was drafted to go into the war. Later on, he opened an insurance company before going into real estate development where he was credited for opening many sub
isions in Eunice. He was also a lifetime member of the Eunice Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Brown was on the board of directors for St. Landry Homestead Bank. He was preceded in death by his wife, Isabelle Brown, and a daughter Brenda Lomas.

The visitation was held on Monday, June 26, 2006, from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday, June 27, 2006, from 8 :00 a.m. until time of services.

A rosary was prayed Monday evening at 7:00 p.m.

Survivors include his three sons, Ferdie Brown, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, Deryl Brown and his wife, Gail, and Bernard Brown all of Eunice; a daughter, Sharon Hebert and her husband, Mike of Eunice; a sister, Zilda Tut Manuel of Eunice; 14 grandchildren, Kevin and Keith Brown, Amy Duplechin, Coby Brown, Chasity Myers, Brian and Dustin Brown, Kristin Brooks, John Lomas, Jr., Saige and Jason Lomas, and Kelsey, Lainey, and Bradley Hebert; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Ardoins Funeral Home of Eunice was in charge of arrangements.
