BASILE-A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Wednesday, October 01, 2008 at 4:00 pm at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile for John Rollin Bertrand, 73, who passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2008 at his residence. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Father Randy Moreau officiating.

As a child Rollin served as a alter boy and sang in the choir for many years at St. Augustine Catholic Church. He was a veteran having served this country in the United States Armed Forces. For 23 years Rollin was a salesman for John R. Young where he did the commercial and said his famous words No Doubt About It Sha A Loving father, father-in-law, uncle and grandfather, Rollin is survived by his three wonderful children, a son, Jamie Brent Dupre and wife, Phyllis Young of Basile; two daughters, Jessica Bertrand Manuel and husband, Richard of Kinder, JoAnn Bertrand Gay and husband, Paul of Jennings; a nephew, Nathaniel Ray Vidrine of Temple, TX; and five loving grandchildren, James Colby Dupre, Leah Morgan Dupre, Victoria Jeanette Fontenot, Richlyn Jade Manuel and Emily Elizabeth Fuselier. Rollin will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dolza and Emma Fontenot Bertrand; his wife, Jeanette V. Bertrand; and a sister, Eula Mae Vidrine.

The family request that visiting hours be observed on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at 2:00 pm until time of services on Wednesday. Deacon Robbie Leger will recite a rosary at 7:00 pm Tuesday evening
