BASILEA wonderful father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, John H. Bellon will be missed by all who knew and loved him. John died peacefully on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at home surrounded by his loved ones. He was 76. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 2:00 pm at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Entombment will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Father Brian Taylor Celebrant.
John known as Rosebud to all who knew him served his country honorably in the United States National Guard. He retired from the Acadia Parish School System after 28 years as a bus driver, a job he loved dearly as well as an outdoorsman, gardener and hunter. He was very much loved by his children, Connie Vancleve and husband, Stephen of New Iberia, Paul K. Joe Bellon and wife, Misty of Tepetate, Jennifer Redlich of Port Arthur, John D. Bellon and wife, Karla of Egan, Phyllis Maybrier and husband, Robert of Basile and Shelia Sattler and husband, Todd of Tepetate. John was a beloved and devoted grandfather to 14 grandchildren, Jacob Vancleve and wife, Kally, Linda Doucet and husband, Daylon, Laura Daigle and husband, Tran, Laney Bellon, Emily and Ian Redlich, Kristopher Bellon and wife, Susan, Browdie and Andrew Bellon, Robert Blake Maybrier and wife, Ashley, Katelyn Maybrier, Heidi Siebert and husband, Kyle, Alex and Whitney Sattler and his fourteen great grandchildren, Zoe Vancleve, Mallory and Bryn Doucet, Owen, Connor, Payton, and Hudson Daigle, Aden Redlich, Prestyn Bellon, Ethan Maybrier, Riley Maybrier, Kohen Bellon, Brooklyn Bellon and Cayden Barclay. Also mourning his loss are his two sisters, Elmae Rodig of New Jersey and Teri Hebert of Egan.
John now rests in Heaven with his beloved wife, Elaine Cart Bellon his parents, Dewey and Ida Ryder Bellon a brother, Rodney Bellon and a sister, Belle Manuel.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Basile on Friday, January 20th from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm and again on Saturday, January 21st from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Friday evening.
