EUNICE-It is with great sadness that the family of Joann Brett Reed announces her passing on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at the Eunice Manor at the age of 80. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 11:00am at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Joann was born on March 3, 1944, in Houston, Texas to the late Oscar and Itasca “Bebe” Smith Brett. She retired from a devoted career at the Harrison County Courthouse. Joann was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by her four children, Richard Barnard, III and wife, Vanessa of Georgetown, TX, Robyn Michelle Smith and husband, Matt of Richmond, VA, John Russell Barnard and wife, Suzanne of Round Rock, TX, and David W. Barnard of Pasadena, TX; nine grandchildren, Cody and Travis Barnard, Bridgette and Richard Barnard, IV, Charlotte and Nathan Barnard, Eva Joann Smith, and Trent and Eve Bearb; two great grandchildren, Joshua Alexander Barnard and Andrew Joseph Barnard; and Goddaughter, Angela Bearb and husband, Chad of Rayne.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Reed; son, Bill Strait, Jr.; three brothers, Gordon Brett, Hiram Brett, and Jimmy Brett; sister, Emma Hutto of Kingwood; and her parents.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 12:00 pm until 9:00 pm, and again on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Saturday.
